BBC Report

Asalamu alaykum wa rahmatulahi wa bakarat

Our Students take part in the BBC School Report each year.

BBC News School Report provides 11-16 year-olds across the UK the opportunity to make and broadcast their own news. The aim is to interest students in news of all sorts, and the world around them, by giving them the chance to make their own news.

With support from BBC staff, teachers can use lessons plans and resources from the BBC School Report website to help students create their reports.

On the annual News Day in March, all the students work to a deadline, producing and publishing their content onto their school's dedicated webpage, which the BBC links to, giving their stories a real audience.

You are invited to return to this page in the future for this academic years school report. Meanwhile have a look below for our school report in previous academic years.

Mrs. Antabli from the school PTA has created a Journalism club where students learn how to debate and discuss topics, how to conduct a interviews with confidence, how to record the most important points and finally how to edit them. Journalism is mostly about how and when to listen and speak with a way of prioritising the journalistic-style stories. The group meets once a week and sometimes also at lunch times. The lessons are provided in basic journalism skills; such as general vocabulary, writing skills, an introduction to photography. As a group, the club brainstorms story ideas. Students are also involved with creating the school newsletter updates, they extend their reading, writing and research.
