The challenge is carefully structured to be accessible to a wide range of students while also providing a stretch for those with more advanced mathematical ability. It encourages deeper thinking and the application of mathematical knowledge in unfamiliar and thought-provoking contexts.
At Brondesbury College, an impressive total of 72 students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating strong commitment to developing their mathematical skills and confidence. In preparation for the challenge, students worked through past papers from the UKMT website and benefited from the guidance and support of Mr Islam, our Maths teacher.
Taking part in the UKMT Challenge provided students with a range of valuable benefits, including strengthening problem-solving strategies, improving resilience when tackling complex questions, and developing the ability to think critically under timed conditions. Such competitions also help students build confidence, nurture a love for mathematics, and raise aspirations for further study in STEM-related fields.
We are extremely proud of all the students for their hard work and excellent achievements. Several students performed exceptionally well, and we are delighted that some have been invited to take part in the Maclaurin Olympiad 2026 follow-on round, which is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of their talent and dedication. We wish them every success in the next stage of the competition.
